Child Headed Program (CHH)

This Program identifies and trains young adults (18-24 yrs) in Home Based Care. The training of leaders of Child Headed Households in Home Based Care was started in 2007 when HIV/ AIDS patients were mainly bed ridden and we have trained over 10 000 youngsters since inception. Many of the participants are identified from AIDS organisations in the high density suburbs. The course is for five days and it deals with issues such as nutrition, improvisation of Caring resources and how to deal with death.  The proect are donor funded from Oak Foundation. The project is donor funded. Since the inception of the program over 10 000 youngsters have been trained.

Hospitals had stopped admitting HIV/AIDS patients and had to be nursed at home.  No one in the homes was trained so children and relatives had to find ways of helping and some ended up contracting the disease. This is what led our very own Sr. Dominica in starting the CHH Program to train primary carers in the homes.

Child Headed Program (CHH): New classrooms

The CHH courses were being held in the various communities but we have been facing a lot of problems one of them being losing training equipment to theft, so we decided to construct classrooms at our Mashonaland Centre. The classrooms were sponsored by Germany Embassy and Beit Trust Zimbabwe. The classrooms were officially opened on 15 June 2017
